Tools Overview

The GoMRC system architecture was designed to facilitate searching, visualization, and analysis of data and data products that are available through interoperable standards, as illustrated in the diagram below. The system is intended to be flexible and extensible to a broad set of topics or application areas. GoMRC’s initial user application tools are described below.

Noesis
(Beta Release for Gulf of Mexico)

  User's Manual

A Science-driven Search Engine and Resource Aggregator

Noesis uses “ontologies” that show relationships between concepts in a given science domain. This helps users to better focus their search query and reduces the burden to experiment with different search strings.

Conceptual Model Explorer

An Interactive Application for Viewing Ecosystem Conceptual Models and Executing Workflows

The Conceptual Model Explorer (CME) is a decision support tool that allows users to create and view conceptual models that illustrate ecosystem relationships. CME’s Workflow Explorer function allows users to link data and existing models in a series and run analyses in a Web-based environment.

The initial CME toolset provides a conceptual model and Restoration Prioritization Toolset for submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV).

Analytical models to support SAV restoration analysis

The ArcGIS-based Restoration Prioritization Toolset enables users examine habitat suitability for SAV and to evaluate change in SAV habitat structure over time. Users can input data to the models for their own sites. ArcGIS 9.2 with Spatial Analyst is required for use.
